I've found that images of very large sizes will often not render on many browsers (Firefox and possibly others). These browsers may indicate that the image contains an error even though it does not, but local image viewers are generally more capable. Safari and the latest Internet Explorer may have a better chance of success, but I haven't tested them thoroughly.
